Brain Breaks

Safari Yoga

Safari Yoga is aimed at younger children to help them with their memorization of animals. The teacher will announce an animal, or possibly show a picture of one, and the students would then get into that specific pose that corresponds to the animal the teacher has selected. The teacher can incorporate various different poses for one animal as well.

ABC Yoga

ABC Yoga or Alphabet Yoga helps kids with developmental movements, as well as helping with cognitive development. The teacher has alphabet cards with then correspond to a movement or pose that starts with that same letter. After a while the teacher can mix up the letters and see if the students can remember which pose or movement goes with which letter of the alphabet. The Yog-Ment Dance

The Yog-Ment Dance is a Brain Break that incorporates the sound of music along with the movements and poses that the students would be doing. The teacher plays a song and leads out specific movements to the students. After practicing these movements after a period of time, the teacher can play different songs that will go along with the movements the class has already learned. Here is a link for our version of the Yog-Ment Dance.
